The Natural World Centre held their Prize Giving for their annual photographic competition sponsored by Vantage Point Photography in association with artsNK.

Each year the centre holds a photographic competition inviting visitors to capture the beautiful landscape and creatures found within Whisby Nature Reserve. The winners and runners up for each category were invited to the Natural World Centre last Sunday to receive their prizes along with their complimentary 2018 Calendar of which their images are featured in.

Head judge and sponsor for this year's competition, Trevor Gibbs said:

"With any competition the judging is difficult and with the strong entries this year choosing the final selection has been just that! We had to be brutal and stick to the brief criteria and the final selection reflects this. I am very pleased with the quality of the entries and the turn out for the award presentation was brilliant. Many thanks to the centre and everyone involved!"

This year's overall winner as chosen by Trevor was 'Feather Drops' by Isla Perkins aged 13 who also snapped up 1st place in the under 16s category. Isla will also have the opportunity to attend a one to one workshop with Trevor to get expert tips and advice in professional photography.

Visitors to the centre were also invited to come and vote for their favourite of the shortlisted entries which would become the face of the 2018 calendar. This year's winner was 'The Morning Song' by Nick Clayton and copies of this year's calendar can be purchased from the shop for only £5.

The winners of the categories are as follows:

  • Best Close Up - 'Happy Robin' by Ade Wildsmith

Photographic Competition Exhibition

Visitors still have the chance to come and view all shortlisted entries on display in the Boardwalk Bistro at the Natural World Centre until Sunday 7 January 2018.

Shortlisted entries can also be found at www.naturalworldcentre.co.uk or on the Natural World Centre's Facebook page - www.facebook.com/naturalworldcentre. You will also find images that have been highly commended by the judging panel; just proving how difficult it was to shortlist so many entries.

Next year's competition dates are still to be confirmed. If you are interested in taking part, please get in touch with us at whisby@1life.co.uk or call the centre on 01522 688868. Natural World Centre Photo Awards 2017 - Lincolnshire Magazine - LincsMag.com
