Earlier this month (February), two new walking football sessions were set up by the NK Outreach Team designed to encourage people to get out and be more active more often. Ideal for anyone ages 55 and over, walking football is relatively new to Lincolnshire so it wasn't a surprise when both sessions were a hit in Sleaford and North Hykeham.

This low impact sport allows participants to enjoy the beautiful game but at a more manageable pace and has attracted over 50 people in the first two weeks ranging from 55 to 79 years old which was great news for Sport & Physical Activity Manager, Benjamin Rowe.

"We've had a great response so far over the first two weeks! We've had some newbies to the sport as well as some veterans. The sessions have been created with the idea of getting men together participating in a healthy activity. Although men were the target audience we have attracted 5 women - of different abilities - to the sessions." Walking Football in North Kesteven - Lincolnshire Magazine -

"We have had some amazing feedback over the past two weeks all based on how well the participants believe the sessions are organised to how nice it was to be playing football with old team mates. I'm really looking forward to watching the project grow!"
