The Asylum Steampunk Festival is the largest and longest running steampunk festival in the World, attracting participants from around the globe. It takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend in the historic City of Lincoln.

Starting on Friday 25th August 2017, for four glorious days the historic streets of Lincoln will be thronged with thousands of splendidly dressed Steampunks enjoying a festival which strives to combine art, literature, music, fashion, comedy and simple good fun.

This year's event is the ninth time such a festival has been held in the city. The full timetable of events takes place across eleven different venues including Bishop Grosseteste University, The Engine Shed, Cathedral Centre and Assembly Rooms. Much of the festival's activities take place in the shadow of Lincoln Castle which will play host to a large market, outdoor stage and a programme of events ranging from parades to wacky races.

The Bazaar Eclectica is free to attend and the range of stalls at Castle Hill will present a Steampunk market of weird and wonderful items to buy.

Both Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday include costume parades. The first will feature a performance by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Concert Band and will start at 10am on Sunday. The following day a Steampunk promenade will take place along Bailgate. Spectators are welcome to both of these events but participants must purchase a wristband to take part.
