Hykeham Sailing Club will once again be opening its doors to anyone who wants to get out on the water from this Sunday (3 April).
It doesn’t matter if you have never stepped foot in a boat before, make 2011 the year you discover a sport that offers the incomparable buzz and escapism of being out on the water and mastering the elements, whilst also being hugely sociable.
Based at Apex Lake, less than five miles from Lincoln city centre, family-friendly Hykeham SC offers a wide-range of opportunities to sail and windsurf for complete newcomers to experienced seafarers all under the watchful eye of RYA-qualified instructors.
Over the summer, the club is running three Taster Days for beginners to experience first-hand exactly what sailing is all about. These are informal, structured, days with plenty of experienced sailors ready to answer questions and take ‘tastees’ out onto the water. The first of these taster days is on Saturday 7 May and costs £35 (adults) and £15 (Under 14s). Contact Liz Harding at lizharding1@aol.com for details or to book.
Meanwhile, there are heaps of other courses taking place at Hykeham SC over the summer for people to learn to sail and to improve their skills. Whether people choose to sail simply for pleasure, whet their competitive appetites racing or take longer offshore trips at sea, one of the best things about sailing is there are always so many things to learn and enjoy!
With the club motto of ‘Sailing for All’, anyone, whether complete newcomers or experienced sailors, is welcome to pop along to Hykeham SC to see what the club can offer on any Sunday throughout April until the end of September.
