Station Warrant Officer Steve Marshall

RAF Waddington Station Warrant Officer (SWO) Steve Marshall has been awarded an MBE in this years Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Warrant Officer Marshall has been described as an inspirational leader within both the military and the civilian community and has been applauded for his efforts in supporting the Royal British Legions Poppy Appeal as well as several other worthy causes.

Warrant Officer Marshall said: “I am absolutely honoured to have been nominated but am in no doubt that this would not have been the case but for the support of family and colleagues”

Group Captain Rich Barrow, Station Commander RAF Waddington said: “WO Marshalls extensive and sustained community activity is particularly extraordinary, exemplifying the very finest Royal Air Force qualities. This is a truly deserved award for an outstanding individual and I congratulate him wholeheartedly.”

Military Commendations

Several other service personnel from RAF Waddington have been commended for their outstanding dedication and commitment to the service and have been awarded a range of military commendations.

Cpl Laura Bibby


Corporal (Cpl) Laura Bibby a photographer has been described as being the personification of integrity, devotion and utter professionalism.

Without complaint Cpl Bibby has often been deployed at short notice in support of operational commitments. She has been applauded for her commitment to the task and for the outstanding quality of her work.

Cpl Laura Bibby


Corporal (Cpl) Nicola Hersey an administrative clerk has been described as a highly capable and professional administrator.

Always the first in line to volunteer for additional duties she is considered to be a great example of a modern Service person displaying true determination, enthusiasm and energy.



UK Reaper operations


A team of Junior Non-Commissioned Officers (JNCO’s) from 39 Squadron, based at Creech Air Force Base, Nevada, USA have been praised for the pivotal role they have played in the provision of critical mission support to UK Reaper operations. Thoroughly professional and utterly dependable in their analysis of live imagery feeds the actions of the JNCO’s have undoubtedly saved the lives of many Coalition Forces and Afghan civilians.

Group Captain Rich Barrow, Station Commander RAF Waddington said: “Diverse in their backgrounds and experience these individuals personify the very best of what the Royal Air Force represents. Fine examples of the Service, they are all thoroughly worthy of formal recognition and I applaud them for their efforts”
