Recognition for local lady within Learning & Development industry sees her & Lightning Training land in the finals once again.

Sheena Whyatt of Lightning Training, has once again been announced as in the running for Trainer of the Year at The Learning Awards, hosted and run by the Learning and Performance Institute.

Practice, Innovation and Excellence

Presented at The Dorchester in London on February 2nd, 2013, the prestigious awards acknowledge and pay homage to best practice, innovation and excellence within the Learning and Development Industry, and for a second time Sheena, Area Leader for 4Networking Newark and Lincoln, has been recognised as outstanding in her field.

“Last year I was awarded Silver in the Trainer of the Year category, so to be nominated again is incredible, and it shows that the LPI recognises quality training provisions from all areas of their membership - large or small,” she says.

Set up by Sheena in 2009, Lightning Training specialises in Microsoft applications, business skills, project planning and management training, and as she continues her fight against breast cancer, which affected her for much of 2010 and 2011, the success of her business has tasted especially sweet.

Being part of 4Networking, the UK’s fastest growing national networking organisation, she feels has also played a big part in helping Lightning Training on its way.

“The support I’ve had from 4N before, during and after this time has been tremendous not just on a personal level, but also in finding business solutions to keep things going during chemotherapy,” she explains.

“I’ve been determined not to let it consume my life. Keeping the business going while I was ill was tough, and 4N was a major part of me being able to do that.”

Sheena also puts her success down to a business model which involves leading a team of associates across the UK, enabling her to deliver training anywhere and to any number of people, and she’s looking forward to being part of The Learning Awards once again.

“Trainer of the Year is awarded to an individual who has shown exceptional instructional assessment, development and needs analysis skills, so to be even nominated and stand alongside other trainers of such a high calibre is simply an honour in itself,” she says.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be amongst such prestigious company for a second time.”
